BRNO IMPROVISING UNIT

Ensemble for experimental and freely improvised music, with a focus on natural acoustic instrumentation, started in 2012. Distinctive creative approach, greatly referring to the contemporary treatment of sound creation and European way of improvising aesthetics of the late 20th century, strongly reminds its founder and leading person Pavel Zlámal. All this combined with a musical openness and a concentrated commitment to the present moment, this ensemble generates a musical stream, which itself determines its further development.

The characteristic sound of a collective body is not only achieved by pushing instrument to the limits of technical possibilities, but also how are re-evaluated their traditional musical roles. With an emphasis on spontaneity of musical expression Brno Improvising Unit produces music dynamic and intimate at the same time. Music that is unique not only for its factual individuality.

For cooperation in teh ensemble are welcome both experienced improvisers as well as young musicians from different musical backgrounds. This ensemble is a kind of meeting point for musicians with the ability of genre overlaps and with noncommercial sense for inventiveness. The same music specialization or backgrounds of players is not essential in this band. On the contrary, this diversity is an important and attractive attribute of the band’s potential. The ensemble fully applies philosophy of creating its own original. As such it stands in the categorical counterweight to mass-widespread efforts to meet all the criteria laid down, apply proven templates and achieve the perfection of their models.
